About

Ian Hannah served 12 years of his career at Sonoma State University (SSU) in the area of Finance and formerly held the position of University Treasurer before moving to University Advancement in 2017 as the Assistant Vice President for Advancement Operations. In this role Ian serves as the Business Officer for the division, overseeing budget, endowment management, strategic planning, reporting, compliance, human resources, Foundation/Board operations, gift processing, prospect research, and systems/data/database management. He has long held a role on the Sonoma State University Foundation Board and currently serves as Chief Operating Officer & Secretary of the Foundation and participates on the Executive, Investment, Philanthropy, Governance, and Audit Committees. Ian believes in the power of financial literacy and the importance data, dollars, and numbers play in decision making and in telling an impactful story. Ian continually participates in various professional development opportunities, including serving as the 2023 Chair of the Philanthropy Committee for the California State University Auxiliary Organization Association (CSU AOA) and has presented on various aspects of endowment management at past AOA conferences/meetings. Ian holds a BA in Economics and a Master's in Business Administration (MBA) from SSU. He also holds a Certified Specialist in Planned Giving (CSPG) designation from CSU Long Beach.

Interests: Exploring what Sonoma County has to offer, connecting with friends and family, traveling, playing league tennis, and enjoying quality beer & wine.
