CSU Honorary Doctorates
California State University campuses award honorary degrees to distinguished individuals who have demonstrated excellence in areas that benefit CSU campuses, the state, nation and/or world, and/or humanity. Recipients serve as examples to be recognized and honored for their exemplary contributions.
Distinguished Alumni
The Distinguished Alumni Awards Program stands as a time-honored tradition at Sonoma State University, embodying a legacy of excellence. The award is a symbol of achievement and success presented to distinguished alumni from among SSU's six academic colleges. Since 1988, these awards have been presented to the most prestigious graduates of SSU for their professional achievements, contributions to society and support of the University. Faces of SSU
Faces of SSU is an annual initiative at Sonoma State University and a platform that shines a spotlight on the diverse voices of our community. Students, staff, faculty, and alumni who have made significant on-campus contributions and demonstrated remarkable leadership are celebrated. Through this engaging project, these nominated Faces of SSU have the opportunity to share their captivating stories through written narratives, photos, and a dynamic digital campaign. In doing so, they offer an intimate glimpse into their unique journey, their meaningful involvement in campus life, and the profound experiences they have gathered while pursuing their academic career at SSU. Nichols Legacy Society
The Ambrose and Barbara Nichols Legacy Society, established in the 1980's, is named for our founding President Ambrose Nichols and his wife Barbara. They were the inaugural members of this namesake society. Today The Nichols Legacy Society honors those forward looking individuals who care deeply about future generations of students at Sonoma State University; to deliver high-quality education through innovative programs that leverage the economic, cultural, and natural resources of the North Bay.
